Direct Answer

Suspension clamp vs tension clamp — where is each used?

Suspension clamps support the conductor at intermediate (suspension) towers: the conductor hangs in the suspension string and the structure carries mainly its weight. Tension (strain) clamps grip the conductor at angle poles, terminals and section points, transferring the full mechanical tension of the span into the structure. Silverstone Electric supplies both types — plus spindle and D-bracket fittings, insulator pins and socket clevises — from Suzhou, China, quoted against your string design.

Frequently asked

Can a suspension clamp be used at a tension position?
No — at angle, terminal or section structures the full span tension must be carried by a tension (strain) clamp. A suspension clamp is rated for the conductor's weight and limited imbalance, not full tension.
Which insulators do the clamps pair with?
Both clamp families are supplied to match suspension and strain strings built from composite long-rod, porcelain disc or glass disc insulators; send your string drawing for exact hardware matching.
How do I specify clamps in an RFQ?
State conductor type and diameter (e.g., ACSR), string type and tower position; clamp model, material and fixing are confirmed per your drawing.
