Direct Answer

What are formed wire products — armor rods, guy grips, dead-end grips?

Formed wire products are pre-shaped helical rods that wrap onto a conductor or stay wire instead of being bolted or compressed. Typical members: armor rods reinforce the conductor against bending and abrasion at clamps and supports; dead-end (preformed tension) grips hold line tension at terminals without compression sleeves; guy grips terminate stay wire; related items include line guards and insulator ties. Silverstone Electric supplies formed wire products against line design from Suzhou, China.

Frequently asked

When are armor rods needed?
At suspension and support points on lines exposed to vibration, and wherever a clamp would otherwise bear directly on bare aluminium strands — the rods spread bending stress and provide sacrificial protection.
Can a dead-end grip replace a compression splice?
For distribution tension positions, preformed grips are widely used because installation is fast and needs no hydraulic tooling; for large transmission cross-sections compression hardware remains the norm. Confirm the application and we advise accordingly.
What sizing data does an RFQ need?
Conductor code name, diameter and position of use; rod lengths and leg sets are matched to the conductor.
