Lightning Arrester

HV Station Class Surge Arrester

Station-class metal-oxide surge arresters protect transformers, breakers and busbars from lightning and switching overvoltages. Silverstone arresters use gapless MOV blocks with high energy absorption capability, available in porcelain and silicone-rubber housings with discharge counters, monitors and disconnectors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I select the arrester rating for my system?
Send us your highest system voltage, grounding arrangement (effectively grounded or not), and insulation coordination study if available. Our engineers will propose the rated voltage, MCOV and energy class.
Porcelain or polymer housing — which should I choose?
Polymer housings are lighter, hydrophobic and safer under internal arc; porcelain suits conservative specifications and very high pollution with appropriate creepage. Both are available for the same electrical ratings.
Do arresters ship with test reports?
Yes, routine test reports per IEC 60099-4 accompany every batch; type test certificates are available on request.
